sitrep is built to need as little of your data as possible. there are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers on this site.

what is stored

on the reader, one thing, and only in your own browser: a note that you dismissed the cookie message, kept in localStorage so it does not return on every visit. it never leaves your device and is not tied to any identity. you can clear it any time from the cookie notice (reopen it with the cookies link in the footer) or by clearing site data in your browser.

cookies

sitrep sets no cookies. the dismissal note uses localStorage, which is local browser storage rather than a cookie, and it is strictly functional. because nothing is shared with anyone, there is nothing to consent to beyond keeping or forgetting that one note.

server logs

like any website, requests reach a host that may keep short-lived operational logs, such as ip address and user agent, for security and reliability. these are not used to profile readers and are not combined with anything else.

links out

every headline links to the original publisher. once you follow a link you are on their site, under their privacy policy. sitrep strips tracking parameters from outbound links and never rewrites the destination.

images

thumbnails load directly from the publisher or feed that supplied them. if an image fails to load it is hidden rather than replaced.
