New Air Astana chief sees carrier’s growth plans accelerated by Middle East crisis
The Kazakh carrier is benefiting from its geographical location and virtually unchanged jet fuel costs. Air Astana Group chief executive Ibrahim Canliel stepped into his new role on 1 April, just over a month after the Iran war began, jet fuel prices doubled and flights through the Middle East were thrown into chaos.
