American destroyer opens fire in the Mediterranean
Imagery released by the US Navy shows the guided-missile destroyer USS Arleigh Burke firing its MK 45 five-inch gun during a live-fire exercise in the Mediterranean Sea, while conducting operations in the US 6th Fleet area of responsibility in support of American national security interests in Europe, the US Navy has said. The photograph captures the ship’s forward gun in the moment of firing, the muzzle blast rolling out across the water, during the kind of gunnery serial that warships run regularly to keep their crews and weapons sharp.
