Fête de la musique: France restricts public alcohol consumption as heat wave bakes parts of Europe

France restricted public drinking Sunday in “red alert” zones, including Paris, as Fête de la musique kicks off to cope with a heat wave unfurling across parts of Europe. Emergency services and military forces were also put on wildfire alert as about a third of France was placed under the national weather service’s heat red alert with temperatures expected to reach 40 Celsius.
