Polish navy to acquire Shield AI’s V-Bat for maritime surveillance

The VTOL aircraft will be deployed from surface vessels. Warsaw has ordered Shield AI’s V-Bat UAS to support maritime operations, the US airframer has announced. Under its contract with Poland’s Armament Agency, disclosed on 23 June, Shield AI will supply an undisclosed number of the tail-sitting autonomous aircraft for use by the Polish navy. The company says the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) type will provide “maritime domain awareness and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support”, with operations to be performed from an unidentified vessel.
